The Heart of Carolina Street Rodders had their 28th annual charity car show on April 14th at Farmington Dragway. This was the 18th year that the club has raised money for Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem, and it was our best yet.
Over two hundred cars and trucks were on hand. There were 11 classes of vehicles ranging from 1900 to 2012. American cars, trucks, imports, rat rods and exotics were all included in the judging for the top three in each class, and Best in Show Car and Best in Show Truck were also awarded. This year’s show was the first time imports rat rods, exotics and late model cars and trucks have been included in the judging. Ronald McDonald was on hand to pick his favorite car at the show and presented that person with the Ronald McDonald award. Everyone who participated was awarded a certificate and/or a trophy.
Being at the “Farm” allowed lots of cars and trucks to settle the question as to who had the badest and quickest ride by racing down the strip. The young folks and the young at heart where entertained by a real pedal-powered tractor pull with weighted sled.
I think one of the best times had by all was at the live auction conducted by Myers Auction Service. A big thank you to them for the time they donated to help raise money for Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem.
And, of course, the entertainment provided by Uncle Benny was outstanding and enjoyed by all who were there to show off their vehicle or who were there just to look at all the wonderful vehicles that came out in support of the Heart of Carolina Street Rodders and Ronald McDonald House.
A gentleman, who was there with his grandson, gave us 9.9 out of 10 for the show as a whole.
